Where is Ian****er? I thought he was going to tell us he can do headstand by now. Eric

Still here TE. Still trying too. Had a really good 2 hour lesson with Nick P last week, mainly working over my sun salutations although he did have a quick look at my headstand base, (too quick as I had to get to work) and he couldn't work out why my feet weren't getting up in the air either. I haven't had much time to devote to my practice lately as work has gone a bit mad lately and early starts on the tennis have meant I can only do 30 mins each morning. I'm hoping as I'm away for the next fortnight that I can do more work on that end of the sequence for myself. I promise I'll post something when I can get my feet airborne! In the meantime, I've stopped stresing about it. I know it's coming eventually! Thanks for the concern. Ian

I can relate to the work comments. I'm assuming that is Nick from here? I bet he is an interesting teacher. I do 45 minutes of primary some days. That's all the time I can find. I found a teacher, but he doesn't teach ashtanga. So, I'm going to him once a week and doing my own practice on my own. Thanks for the update. I've been bringing my hands together lately. It is a little easier in Sirsana A but not in B. B has been really tough for me lately. Tennis is fantastic. I love playing. Been watching wimbledon too..

Yes, It's Nick from the forum. We had fun and he was really helpful. Just come back from the best day I can remember on Court 1. 2 really good men's quarter finals. Hoping we get something special tomorrow too to make up for all that rain. Off to Gingi Lee's on the way in. Let you know if I get the headstand going there tomorrow! Ian

Didn't rain and we had 2 fab days on No 1 court. 2 finals yesterday too! Thanks for the advice Tourist! Gingi Lee's shala is a very special place, quite small (only take 14 mats) but nice and tranquil. His teaching is really good too (got me into mari d without too much groaning). He says that my headstand will come soon. In fact I got my feet off the ground with knees bent for 3 breaths today! Off for 2 weeks work in Scotland. Will let you all know when the headstand has progressed. Thanks for all the support, Ian

Nick, Hope so. Let you know next time I'm south of the river in bandit country! Did the biscuits work? Ian

Location: London, England | Hi Ian, Well, I took some hob-nobs, but eat them all on the flight-just as well, I think the sniffer dog would have got all excited, and I've never fancied the experience of a large, burly, Australian customs official with a latex glove Nick

yes, but do we really want to know? When English people say biscuit, I don't think they are talking about what I think of as a biscuit.

For Brits, a biscuit is a type of cookie. It is usually flatter and has a finer texture than what we'd call a cookie. See example : http://www.huntleyandpalmers.org.uk/ixbin/hixclient.exe?a=file&p=huntley&f=huntley.htm For US folk, it's like a large, Brit scone-like brick, often covered in gravy. Brits also have savoury scones as well as sweet ones which came as a surprise to a certain US pal of mine. My personal favourite being mature cheddar cheese and cracked black pepper. We usually put butter or whipped/double cream & jam on ours though :-) Fee Edited by Orbilia 2007-07-13 12:42 PM

Those are pretty fancy to call a biscuit! We get those in tins cans sometimes. (usually around christmas) We had a Brit in our office a couple of years ago and he would drink tea at 4:00 p.m. everyday. I thought it was more urban legend until I met him...

Just to let you all know that I can do a headstand now! I'd given up trying to do it the prescribed way (in the middle of my mat) and gone back to the wall, moving an inch further away every 2 or 3 days. Today I stayed up for 15 breaths without touching the wall at all! Just that pesky mari d on the second side to master now! Regards peeps, Ian
