In this month's yoga journal I saw a mention of a teacher who teachers Iyenger fromĀ  wheelchair.

Talk about tough!!

I have read about this as well. It really helps that Iyengar teachers are taught to be very clear with our words!

One of the instructors of Trinity Yoga in Canada (who post their course dates here regularly) also broke her back and teaches from a wheel chair:

I find her story very inspirational.

It really teaches me that Yoga (even the physical practise) may be found in many forms.

ascent magazine had an article about an astangini who did the same. broke her back in a skiing accident and teaches from a chair. it is/was a really inspiring story. changed my outlook in a lot of ways.

Yes, ascent magazine wrote an article about Mary Jo Fetterly. MJ is a teacher & friend of mine. She truly is an inspiration.

Here is a link to her personal website, mary-jo.com. CBC radio (the major canadian broadcasting co.) recently replayed an interview from November. The link is on her site.

You'll notice that MJ hasn't been online too often lately - a few months back her health took a turn. While she continues to teach a few classes in Vancouver and partakes in the occasional public speaking engagement she is focusing more strongly on her healing.

peace,
Sonja

...and from me as well.

I think she is a very inspirational person and I wish her the best of health and healing.
