| There have been posts asking for advice on a) which books are good to start with b) which DVDs are good to start with c) what styles are good to take up d) why certain practices are recommended in certain texts e) what is the difference between heated and not heated (debate) practice g) how to find good teachers h) how to do certain poses. i) what poses should be done in certain situations, j) how to cure particular problems k) what is the relation between running/cardio/weights and yoga, etc.
What I am refering to is the above questions and such by the persons who want to begin Yoga.
However, the real priority list in this should read something like this:
1. Find a good Yoga Teacher - How to find, where to find, etc.
2. Doing the practice instructed - How much to do, When to do, How long to do.
3. Asking Questions - Asking from the practice more than otherwise, Asking the Instructors more than others.
4. Proceeding Step by Step - First mastering certain things, and then going ahead. Not jumping on all topics at once and getting confused.
5. Getting proper understanding of Yoga - Not to confuse between exercise and Yoga philosophy, Not to use Asanas to quote Patanjali, not to relate Yoga exercise too much to other sports, etc. And, not to get too much into Anatomy to explain the postures which were not designed with modern anatomy in mind.
