| Just wanted to tell about how happy I am that after 20years of sciatica, it has now gone thanks to yoga.
My sciatica was bad that I couldn't drive 30min, without having to stop the car and get out for relief. Then I decided to practice some of the yoga techniques that I'd learnt, but for the pelvis, after having five children I wanted to tone up. So I did the 'Tiger Pose", I was only doing it a couple of times in the morning and evening. It wasn't until I had to back to work (I have a driving job) that I realized that my hip and leg didn't hurt. I have been pain free for 6months!! Naturally now I do yoga every day. I am 54 and have just started going through the menapause, so I want to stay as fit and healthy as I can.

| I've learnt something new today - tiger pose is what I knew as dynamic cat pose :-)
Fabulous news to find you're pain free :-)

Location: London, England | Hi Glenda,
I believe it's where you are on your hands and knees, and arch your spine into flexion and extension.

| I know it as downdog with bent knees and arched back? |

| Arched as in rounded or as in concave? Either way, this was a pretty simple cure for sciatica, which is awesome |

| It's Vyaghrasana.
You are in cat and then bring one knee into the chest and then extend it back and then down. Repeat on the other side.

| Hi all, thanks for your comments. I should have put the correct name for the tiger pose and that is vyaghrasana. Years ago i used to train dogs. My doctor told me I'd have to give it up, I refused but battled on using pain killers and anti inflamitry drugs from the doctor. The hardest for me though was that I now iive in the bush, so to drive anywhere to get to the shops it takes about 40min. so I was always in alot of pain. Fortunately I discovered Yoga before I started worked as a Community Health Care assistant which involves alot of driving. You know, I could never have even applied for the position for fear I wouldn't be able to do all the distance driving. I am now a total believer in the power of yoga and what benefits can be gained from it.
