I have found that fingers up is jnana is down is chin murdra, but other than how you connect the finger and thumb, there is no difference in meaning, right? Both have the same effect, they just have different names according to direction of fingers. Do I understand his correctly?

Also, while I'm at it, do many of you teach hand mudras? I had a goal to teach one per month, but I have let it slide. So much yoga, so little time....

Wonderful kym. I think you should not take the mudra business too seriously. They are NOT as serious as some people think. More important is mental attitude.

Neel, for some reason, lately I've felt the need to do something with my hands in certain asanas. I'd like to learn a handful (ha ha) so I can incorporate them when the urge strikes.

I do hear you on attitude. You can do things with your hands all day, but if you don't think about the meaning, it won't mean anything at all, IMHO. And in that same vein, you can think those thoughts and feel the benefits w/o the hands. But, I think it's nice, so I want to bring it into my practice, and eventually into my teaching.
