I've recently started practicing yoga in the morning. But for some reason, I feel cold after yoga, especially my feet get really cold. Does anybody know what would be the reason?
| |||
after the asana part, if one is resting, the heart rate decreases, and this often makes the body cold. the same is true of massage. because massage causes a decrease in the heart rate, it's causes you do go down in temp a couple of degrees.
| |||
Relaxation causes more blood to flow to the surface of the skin. This causes one to feel cooler as more heat is escaping from your body.

Do not worry. When you feel cold, just wear warm sox. Everything shall be fine. yogakid - 2007-11-29 12:50 PM I've recently started practicing yoga in the morning. But for some reason, I feel cold after yoga, especially my feet get really cold. Does anybody know what would be the reason?

Thanks a lot everybody ! I thought something was wrong just with me.

When the practice (asana) is constructed in a certain way, there is a period toward the conclusion of the practice where the central nervous system shifts to a parasympathetic mode. This is the mode of safety, rest, eating, calm. There are various reactions in the physical body that bring about such a state; including but not limited to heart rate. When the shift to parasympathetic happens it is likely one would get a bit chilly. Not all people do and those that do are not necessarily cold in every situation or environment. But it is not "odd" at all. When completing asana it is perfectly appropriate to experience a parasympathetic state.

Please, all of you, send me all the benefits of this Warm Yoga, so that I can formulate it properly. Examples of benefit are: stress relief, loss of weight, strength, focus, etc. Also, you can try this at home, and send me feedback appreciation so that I can include that in my formulation. kulkarnn - 2007-11-30 10:16 AM I am currently forming a new yoga style called: Warm Yoga. It is for warm hearted and cold blooded both!!! Hmm, I'm confused. Is it for one person who is cold blooded and a friend who is warm hearted, or does one person have to be both cold blooded and warm hearted at the same time? Is there some kind of screening to keep out the cold hearted or the warm blooded? I'm worried I'll be turned away at the door.

Veteran Posts: 243 | I thought you were really against hot yoga- is warm yoga the compromise? sweating to me is one of the benefits of hot yoga (although a good practice in a warm room should get the same results). My skin feels softer and I really do feel cleansed. Being in a warm room means also that it doesn't take so long to get warmed up. this time of year when it's very rainy, cold and dark (where I live), warm yoga is better than a spa!

In other words Warm Yoga provides sufficient warmth to Warm Hearted ones thus fostering Santosha (contentment) and then it also proivdes necessary support to the Cold Blooded ones using beautifully handcrafted quilts from Native Indian, thus helping Global Economy. Thus, it has a Spiritual Side to it. Also, the benefits of skin shining are as important as enlightenment. Thanks. bstqltmkr - 2007-12-01 1:08 PM That sounds wonderful.

Bee Wax Candles and also drinking of honey is full certified by the Warm Yoga authorities. To get the best effect from the canles and the honey, it should be drunk while in the handmade quilts, especially from the Northern America as they understand the importance of warmth better than the southerners. These handmade quilts are extremely beneificial in the success of shavasana as they are made by extremely spiritual people and the spirituality woven in them balances all the chakras during shavasana without much external help. Warm Yoga is so good that even the thought of it or just chanting its name gives bliss. What to say of the state when one actually signs up for classes and actually takes them.

Now, let us come to the basics of what Warm Yoga is. Too many basics make things complex. So, let us keep them limited. What we learnt so far are the features. Features can be many, but the basics should be few. Otherwise, it gets too hot. Basic 1: In wam yoga, we try to keep the room comfortably warm. It means if it is burning hot, we have to put airconditioning on or do not do exercise at that time, and wait until it cools down such as at the early hours of morning. If it is freezing cold, we put the heater on or go to a glassed room when sun is shining well. But, we never use any special equipment to heat the room or make us sweat. We are happy with sweating from exercise, and not from the heating of room.
