Subject: Building strength

I have been doing yoga for 3 years and have overstretched in my SI joint, subsequently suffer from lower back pain. My practice is limited to prevent injury. This past year my practice has suffered due to debilitating pain and my ego is fighting me :-)

I really want to deepend my practice and take it to another level. Should I find another medium to build strength -is pilates or weight training an option. Please could someone advise.

I would gladly contribute to "advice" if you would contribute more about you.

Please, some background about your age, gender, fitness level, overall health, and the nature of the practice you've been doing for 3 years. Also the mission or goal you have in mind moving forward from here. What does "deepen" mean to you? Pilates and weight training for what purpose exactly?

Go to a very experienced teacher and actually show your situation. And, obtain the suggestion. Best Luck.

you need to consult a experienced good teacher. first devlop strength for your back, and make a program of practice, follow it for required time , then move futher. and i would like to suggest do more focus on pranayama.
good luck
