I have (not yeat but it becomes) serious health problems. I have hypermobility syndrom, that's a diagnosis what doctors say, because my overall medical condition is very good. I know that from outside it looks quite ok but I know my body and I feel afraid when i think about it. My joints are not kept together - they become loose and loose with each month. I can walk and sit and run a little bit but all my spine is kept together with skin (that's just a feeling but terrible one).
I am 29, it started just before 4-5 years and it's very progressive. (before 5 years i could do atletics and fittness in gym, no I even can't sleep on side, i should take stright on-back position).
Advice I wold like to ask you- is there any way through yoga I could start to use to make myself believe I can become healthy again? Could it be yoga-nidra?
Support I would like to ask you is - have you cured your body in some way by yourself?
Thank you!

Yes, thank you, I agree with you but we do not have in Latvia such a specialists. My yoga teacher - I explained her my problem, adviced me to take part in yoga-nidra course. Another thing she says is I exaggerate it - if i can walk and don't feel pain, i shouldn't think about it and just continue doing yoga as i did.
It's progressive means that couple of years ago I could do many sports in leisure time, now I can't even moove freely (without keeping in mind which movements are "dangerous"for me - for ex, if I jump from 0.5m chair, my knees joints will "jump out"and make pain).

Thank you for the reply to my question. So you have not been told that the syndrome is "progressive" from a health care practitioner, is that correct?

Obviously I cannot and will not deny what you are experiencing in your own body. However I think it's important for other readers to know that clinically Hypermobility Syndrome is not necessarily a progressive disease. So we must use care in creating a mental state which affirms that it is.

Many misinterpret Yoga (asana) as "being about flexibility". It is not. Yoga (asana) is about moving some things and stabilizing others. If you are able to find a teacher who understands this concept and folds it into their teaching, you are likely to be helped by yoga. If you find a teacher who believes yoga (asana) is about physical fitness, choreography, or flexibility, then you may not.

I am not an expert but my body is hyperelastic to some extent. If you want to do yoga, you may need a quite senior teacher who is familiar with how to teach a very flexible person how to work from their muscles, rather than how to work to increase range of motion. Perhaps someone with a dance background? Or a physical therapist who is also a yoga teacher? It is harder to teach a very flexible person. If you aren't careful, you may worsen your condition with yoga, and would be better off doing almost any other kind of exercise.
