Hi, has anyone ever heard of fracturing a vertebra in your lower lumbar while practicing Bikram?
Would it be possible?

Thanks.

It is possible while and also without practicing B and NONB yoga.

Hi Annabel,
Yes, it is possible, but maybe not the kind of fracture you are thinking of. I would have thought a spondiliolosthesis, where the part of the vertebra that sticks out your back comes away from the vertebral body, would be the most likely-but I don't think it's very likely.

Hi Annabel,

I don't know about the fracturing part, although, I bet it sure feels like it. What I can tell you, from my own personal yoga experience including Bikram, that there are several Bikram postures that can injure your lower back if not done correctly, or if say you take your body further than you should have. Some good examples that come to my mind immediately are Standing Leg Forehead to Knee, Camel, Half Locust and Full Locust. You really need a good teacher who has experience and training, preferably in other yoga styles, anatomy and most importantly - other than Bikram. Good luck.
