Subject: Jala-dhauti

I am a beginner student who has just started practising Hatha Yoga and attempted "jala-dhauti" since last Tuesday on 11th March 2008. On my 6th day of practising "jala-dhauti", I was shocked to discovered I throw out some "fresh blood and water" and a little spit of blood at the end of the process. Later tha late morning, I can still smell the stench of blood whenever I burped. This morning I have attempted "jala-dhauti" again and believe effect has improved slightly as there is no last spit of blood but there are still some "fresh blood and water". As I am supposed to practise "jala-dhauti" for a continuous 15 days. Have anybody experience this before? Is there any practictionist who can provide me some advice? Is this symptom common? Should I stop practising "jala-dhauti"? Thanks.

I have already attempted jala-dhauti this morning before reading your reply. I throw out some dark pinky liquid which I presume it is blood and water again and I have taken a picture of my throw out. Thanks for the reply. I shall STOP immediately.

Ben - these practices, if done at all (and many teachers now say they are not necessary in modern times) must be taught one on one with an expert practitioner and teacher. I am glad you have decided to stop.
