I had a great experience studying the Sutras with Chase Bossart last year. He's returning to Portland at the Yoga Shala of Portland April 25-27, Aug. 22-24 and Nov. 14-16.

PATANJALI’S YOGASUTRA EXPLAINED & CHANTED: CHAPTER 1
with Chase Bosart

Meeting one weekend a month, we will go through the text sutra by sutra, unfolding the multidimensional jewel of Yoga. Through this we will see that the real power of yoga lies not in the strength or vitality it gives the physical body, but rather in the profoundly positive ways it changes every part of our human system. Patanjali clearly explains how Yoga refines the quality of mind, clears negative emotions, creates positive habits/behaviors, improves our relationships, and brings forth profound spiritual experiences.

The workshop is open to all levels and new comers will find it open and accessible, just as advanced practitioners will find it rich and informative. Each day will include 1 hour of chanting, 2 hours of sutra explanation, and 1 hour of led practice designed to illuminate ideas covered in the sutra’s explanation.

Beginning in 1991 Chase Bossart began studying at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram with Mr. Desikachar and his son Kausthub. Chase holds a M.A. in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara, and wrote his thesis on Patanjali's Yogasutra. He is the co-Founder of the Yoga Health Alliance, and is on the faculty at Loyola Marymount University’s Yoga Therapy Rx Program. Chase currently resides and teaches in San Francisco as part of the Healing Yoga Foundation.

I'll be going. If you have any questions about the classes (the study of the Sutras continues to be a great experience for me) feel free to post here or IM me. I can also Email you a pdf if you'd like something to print out.
