I did - or rather attempted - the 2nd series for the first time yesterday. I really, really, really disliked the crashing down after every sirshasana. Am I overreacting or is it very possible to fracture a toe doing this?

It just seems odd after months of being told you're supposed to float in your jump throughs to avoid injury.

Hi Thyago,
In my opinion, you are right-yet another example of astanga yoga not being perfect The third series is worse. My teachers modified the form to remove this stupid movement.

I guess if you were doing this on a dirt floor it wouldn't bother anyone so much...

I don't like the crashing down either, and have vowed not to do it once I'm there, regardless of what my teacher says. I'm OK in the first mukta hasta sirsasana, but pinca mayurasana? No way. I broke a toe doing yoga years and years ago (before I discovered bandhas), and don't especially desire to repeat the experience.

namaste,

lisa
