| Has anyone studied with Saraswathi in Mysore? If so, I would like to know your experience with her as a yoga teacher.

| Hi there,
There are a couple of blogs on ashtangi.net which talk about study with Saraswati - you could check them out, and maybe email the bloggers. I've heard good things (not the least of which is that it's far less crowded in her classes), but never having been to Mysore myself, best wait til you hear about it from the proverbial horse.
Saraswati is Jois' daughter.

| I was in Mysore in July and because Sharath was away for 2 weeks at the Asian yoga conference I registered to study with Saraswathi. I loved it. She is just lovely but firm and she doesn't miss anything (maybe because she doesn't have as many students - a real plus).
If you study with Sharath the shala is really crowded and you don't get much attention, if any. You don't miss out on any of the experience by studying with Saraswathi, simply what happens is you start your practice a bit later and by the time you have finished the shala is emptying out, so you have a bit more space and when it comes time to do your dropbacks you don't have to wait so long before Saraswathi helps you.
She quickly knows who her students are and if you are in the shala while there are still a lot of Sharath's students, she will keep an eye on you.
I would definitely give it consideration, especially if it is your first trip to Mysore. Go for it !!! |
