| Last week I got infected by a terrible flu virus…
High fever for 4, 5 days, pains in the joints and muscles, throat hurting, chest hurting , nose running, etc. When the fever went normal I still felt very week and coughing painfully all the time… My body was also very stiff having done no yoga at all and having stayed in bed for almost one week. But still I felt totally unable to start any of my usual type of practice with standing postures, etc…
It was then that I remembered of that book, “The path to holistic health”, went through it’s pages and found the “infections of the respiratory system” sequence. I tried this sequence hoping it would help me “get on my feet” and most important become able to work with my voice again the soonest possible…Throat and nose and chest kept feeling better and better after each asana and by the end of the sequence I almost felt back to my normal. I did the same sequence the other two days and felt totally cured and able to get back to my singing practice, rehearsals and gigs (in smoky clubs… like the ones we have here…)
So, thanks once again Mr Iyengar !! May 2009 bring to you more health, more happiness and more inspiration !

| word.
i was sick a few weeks back, and took the practice for cold/flu and sinusitis.
very effective, yes?
i generally do not practice so many restoratives, but it was a joy
and gave me new insight into their applications.
Thanks Guruji! |

| Mmmmmm - I just did one of the practices for the neck. Oh, so nice! I think my restorative class will get a bit of that tonight.
When the book first came out I didn't really understand some of the sequences as they are not always standard issue Iyengar. But spending some time with them has brought more clarity. I think it was one of the practices for depression that started me "getting" it. It wasn't all back bending and openings but would do a little and then seemed to "close" the body again. I wanted to just open, open, open! Aha moment there - I was not depressed! For someone with clinical depression, it would have been too much all at once. Slow and steady is better.
Glad you are feeling better, kristi. I'll just go update my virus checker. I don't want ot get what you had! |
