Subject: How do you fit yoga into your lifestyle?

I was just curious if some of you could share how you fit yoga into your lifestyle. I guess I'm interested in your 'day in the life?'

For example . . .

- Do you rise at and practice asanas at a certain time of day?
- Do you strive to follow the yamas and niyamas?
- Are there certain bodily cleaning practices you follow (using a neti pot, etc)?
- Do you practice breathing, concentration, or meditation daily (if so, when)?
- What is your diet like?

I know these are a lot of questions. Any information you might provide would be appreciated.

my practice flows into my life normally. after my baby wakes up (and has finished eating) his father takes him for an hour. during that hour, i eliminate, wash my face, mouth, nose, ears, hands, and feet, and then practice asana and pranayama for 20- 30 minutes and meditation at the end (for 5 to 10 minutes). i then shower and get dressed for my day.

personally, i think it's impossible to not follow yama and niyama. they are pretty much universal ethical principles that i believe most people strive to follow, though admittedly, i probably am rather strict with myself. during my baby's afternoon nap (morning nap i'm usually teaching yoga, practicing yoga again, or walking with him), i tend to practice contemplation on any number of topics, including yama and niyama.

yoga can become the lifestyle.

all of the examples that you give CAN be a part of the day, and be practiced at a set time and duration. BUT they are practices to cultivate a life that is centered on beng aware, being present and living a life aligned to your practice--your life becomes your practice.

it all becomes one.

Chris and Niki: I do not know whether you have some free time. However, one of the best method for you to get answer to your question is to spend some time with experienced Yogis and you shall exactly know how they are fitting the Yoga into their daily life.

I love this question. For me, yoga is there when I need it, whether it's everyday, or I skip a few days. I practice at home, almost exclusively at this point, so I rely on it as I feel the need.

Yoga is a mind blowing things. I have tried this. When i try this my room has no sound. For some time i feel i am not a part of this world. I feel so happy, seems to be there are no sorrows around me. I really love yoga.

This is very important to fit your yoga with your lifestyle to avoid burnout and burden in doing so.
