Getting a cold shower every morning is very good for the health. It strengthens the immune system against colds and flues, makes one unbeatable to them. It also gives you a nice temper. People who are used in doing one cold shower every morning, say they cannot do without it. Both my parents were like that.

I also think cold shower can be very healthy (provided that it is introduced carefully and gradually), despite some hatha yoga authorities mention it as an impediment to yoga:

Hatha Yoga Pradipika I.15: Yoga fails by the six [causes] – over-eating, over-exertion, excessive talk, the observance of [unsuitable] disciplines, promiscuous company and unsteadiness.

Commentary by Sri Brahmananda (Jyotsna): The disciplines referred to are bathing in cold water early in the morning, eating only at night and fasting frequently.

Taking a cold shower after being in the sauna I hear is good for your pours. I also heard it is therapeutic to go from hot to cold water in Chinese Tradition. I think it feels amazing..

Cold shower and bathing in icy water is a very old way to decrease after-workout muscle fatigue. On some university(I don't remember the name), they have proven that taking mixed showers(cold-hot-cold etc.) is an even more effective way to lower sourness of muscles. As far as the immune system goes, I have no idea, and I wouldn't go as far as to making assumptions using logic. Such stuff should be left to scientists.

You know, sometimes a cold shower just feels really good, refreshing - weather permitting. Hot ones are nice too. LOL!
